A Short Review of The West Side Story :: essays research papers

Something that previously struck me about the play was that the characters accepted they carried on with a decent life. I saw the specific inverse. Easy street is appeared through progress, accomplishment through a profession, instruction, objectives, and love, or if nothing else we are raised reasoning so. The posses just had each other and without the help of that group, these young men/characters would not exist as individual people. The Jets would not like to have occupations, and they derided the ex-pack part, Tony, for leaving the posse to make a future for himself. Life outside the pack was impossible for the Jets. None of the young men had any tentative arrangements or felt the requirement for whatever else in their lives. Tony didn't enjoy a luxurious lifestyle, yet he had dreams. He knew there was a superior life for him out there, and separating from the posse permitted him to look for that life. Possibly it was just me, yet Tony appeared to be the most joyful individual t here, even before he met Maria.      The West Side Story didn't exhibit a decent society, either. The individuals outside the pack didn't assist with driving these children the correct way. The packs figured out how to be antagonistic towards each other, on the grounds that individuals of more significant position authority did likewise, for example, the cops. I was stunned when the cop offered bigot remarks towards the Sharks, I would believe that a person of color in that timeframe would be increasingly mindful of racial pressures and slurs. In the melody â€Å"Officer Krupke† the Jets sing of a few motivations to why society accepts they are awful children. Society makes it OK for them to be awful, and the young men simply acknowledge those reasons. Individuals in their general public were continually giving them adverse comments and this inevitably persuaded what individuals disclosed to them was valid. The general public had a similar disdain that the two groups for one another.      In disdain of their absence of chances the two posses have a great deal of fun at the party (despite the fact that it is bound with pressure). The fun was depicted by the dynamic shades of the young lady's dresses and the young men's shirts, the frantic music. I truly adored the brilliant outfits, and I believe that they truly make the play reachable. I was thinking about whether West Side Story has ever been done in a setting other than proscenium.
